ACP published Packaging Future Regulations wish list

19 DECEMBER 2017

The Advisory Committee on Packaging is a group of industry and Local Authority sector representatives appointed by the Secretary of State to provide advice to Defra and the Minister on the development of the Packaging Waste Regulations.

Following several months of discussion, the ACP has published a 'Future Regulations' wish list that considers the essential ingredients for revised Regulations as we move into the next decade, taking the earlier EU's Circular Economy Package proposals into account.

The paper considers the shortcomings of the existing system and the measures that need to be included in a future system to optimise the environmental impact of packaging and ensure that producers take responsibility for net costs incurred by placing packaging on the UK market.
