EU Skills Competence Management System approved in NI
The EU Skills Competence Management System can now be used in Northern Ireland to satisfy the technical competence requirement of a waste management licence. The Waste Management Licensing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 have been enacted to bring in this change. NI was the last devolved area to bring in this change, meaning that the CMS system is now available for waste management companies across the UK. A certified CMS system is held by a company and therefore removes the reliance on WAMITAB qualified individuals and the pressure on waste management companies to ensure sufficient qualified cover for the required operating hours.
